HIGH ROCK CHALLENGE 2013

High Rock ChallengeI finished the “#High Rock Challenge” 7 miles in 1.37 minutes, thanks to my race partner Nicki. You know, The funny part about Staten island and anyone from Staten Island will verify on this( well a real islander), is that everyone knows each other or they know someone who knows you. Soooo if you are a jerk, people will know it. It turns out that I couldn’t get a partner for the race but I decided to do it anyway, and when i got there, Nicki was looking to run The race but she didn’t have a partner either! so we teamed up, while warming up for the race she told me about her dad, it turns out her dad is mike from @Staten island Kawasaki a friend of my and a great guy. Small world … right!, well, we got first place for our race. Thanks Nicki.

About the High Rock Challenge

Teams consisting of two  must run together at all times and compete in mystery events, which are located throughout the approximately 10-K (and no longer than 13-K) course. Mystery events are cleverly designed and encourage teamwork as well as mental and physical acumen.  Events are not revealed until race day when you’re on the course.

The High Rock Challenge remains Staten Island’s only adventure race; it attracts athletes of all stripes who turn out each April to test their physical and mental abilities, senses of humor and trail-running legs. The race course is almost entirely along the Greenbelt’s rugged trail system.  Navigating your way, by following course markers, is considered part of the challenge.

Hundreds of spectators, volunteers and support staff cheer  runners at central points along the route and at the finish line making this event popular with sponsors. All Greenbelt and NYARA races are professionally timed culminating in an awards ceremony. Refreshments and wicking tee shirts are provided for runners.

Where: Hunter Mountain, 64 Klein Avenue, Hunter, NY
Price: $129.00/per person
Refund policy: Must give a weeks notice, no refund at day of event.

Longest Zip Line Tour around. Read the details and more information will follow. The price includes everything. The price includes everything the trip, transportation cost to and back from the Hunter Mountain!

Hi guys, hope all are ready. Here is some basic information for this trip in regards to the closing. Please be aware of the weather and that you will be suspended in the air and moving at significant speed. As a result although this way I think more exiting you have to make sure that you dress for the weather. Looks like it will be a beautiful weekend but still it’s almost winter, and we will be in the mountains.

Also make sure you have boots (preferred) sneakers might be ok too but your feet will get cold so just be aware of that. Make sure you guys have some form of ID with you, as there will be wavers to sign. Now I think that all about that.

As for transportation, Pick up location: Battery Par, 1 New York Plaza, New York, NY 10004

http://m.google.com/u/m/dXwcvD

I usually ask everyone who is coming to send me a text so I dispense any needed information regarding weather and such day before and call to find out if you are late. But that not needed for this time. Still here is my number and if you have any questions please don’t hesitate and just call or text me. david 347-393-2861, Vasil-347-409-9129. It is easier at least for me than emails (been getting way too many)

Hmm I think that about it. Oh I will most likely make a small adjustment to time. But be advised that it’s not the time we have to be at the location. Like with other events I did, it will be my best advised time to leave from the city.

Experience the longest, fastest and highest Zipline Tour in North America and the 2nd largest in the world! With over 4.6 miles of ziplines, the SkyRider Tour begins with a scenic chair lift ride or an exciting off-road adventure to the Hunter Mountain Summit Lodge. Attend Zipline Pilot Training School where you will be educated on pertinent flight and safety information that will fully maximize your zipping experience. The tour includes five unique side by side racing ziplines. The first of which sets you soaring instantly on a 3,200 foot cable 600 feet above the valley, reaching speeds of up to 50 mph! This tour also features a special 500′ self powered zap-line or a burma bridge option. Allow approximately 3 hours to complete your tour. http://www.ziplinenewyork.com/top-mountain….

Rock climbing and rappeling! Are you game? May 13, 2012 7:00AM

Where: Mountain Skills Climbing Guides, Inc.44 Main Street, New Paltz, NY
When: Sunday, May 13, 2012, 7:00 AM

hey everyone, Join me and a few NY Thrill Seekers Sunday may 13, up the mountains, and learn from the pros, Learn what to do and what NOT to do. Cause you know learning to Rock climb by trial and error is not the best option. lol unless you are a cat and have 9 lives! Or Reading a book or going to youtube.com (p.s. I love you tube) then setting out on your own is not the best idea to rock climb (maybe to buy a car, lol). Ok, with that in mind there is only one more thing to say! Are you game?

What to wear

We recommend comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Functionality and flexibility is paramount to your comfort throughout the day. Layering is always a good idea. Wear shorts or long pants, depending on the time of year, and bring along a wind breaker and a hat for cooler days. Heavy hiking boots are not necessary, but wear comfortable shoes that will allow you to scramble over rocky terrain. Sneakers or trail shoes are best, and avoid open shoes and sandals. Keep in mind that sunny winter days can become surprisingly warm, and hot summer days can become cool, so be prepared for any type of weather.

What to bring

Bring a lunch, and lots of water or sports drinks, at least 2 quarts, per person, per day. Sunscreen, insect repellent, and a hat is also a good idea. Bring along a small to medium sized backpack to carry it all in. Make sure to bring water.

What to expect

We meet at 7:00 am at the usual place, down town NYC right across from the staten island Ferry. we must be at 9:00 AM inside Mountain Skills Climbing , located at 44 Main Street, New Paltz, NY 12561. We will get geared up at the shop and then head out to the cliffs. Climbing usually involves a short approach hike to the climbing area. We will climb until about 4 or 5 PM.

price

  • 1 person $250
  • 2 people $175
  • 3 people $155
  • 6 people $120
  • And 10 people $105

we need 6 people to get a better rate and have fun… call me or txt me at 347-393-2861 for any question, email me or vasil at david@nythrillseekers.com, vasil@nythrillseekers.com visit the site at http://www.mountainskills.biz/
