Where: Mountain Skills Climbing Guides, Inc. 44 Main Street, New Paltz, NY

hey everyone, we done several indoor rock climb events in this past year, So now, lets step it up a notch, and let’s see what we are made off!
Join me and a few NY Thrill Seekers Saturday 28th, up the mountains, and learn from the pros, Learn what to do and what NOT to do. Cause you know learning to Rock climb by trial and error is not the best option. lol unless you are a cat and have 9 lives! Or Reading a book or going to youtube.com (p.s. I love you tube) then setting out on your own is not the best idea to rock climb (maybe to buy a car, lol). Ok, with that in mind there is only one more thing to say! Are you game

What to wear

We recommend comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Functionality and flexibility is paramount to your comfort throughout the day. Layering is always a good idea. Wear shorts or long pants, depending on the time of year, and bring along a wind breaker and a hat for cooler days. Heavy hiking boots are not necessary, but wear comfortable shoes that will allow you to scramble over rocky terrain. Sneakers or trail shoes are best, and avoid open shoes and sandals. Keep in mind that sunny winter days can become surprisingly warm, and hot summer days can become cool, so be prepared for any type of weather.

What to bring

Bring a lunch, and lots of water or sports drinks, at least 2 quarts, per person, per day. Sunscreen, insect repellent, and a hat is also a good idea. Bring along a small to medium sized backpack to carry it all in.
What to expect

We meet at 7:00 am at the usual place, down town NYC right across from the staten island Ferry. we must be at 9:00 AM inside Mountain Skills Climbing , located at 44 Main Street, New Paltz, NY 12561. what is Tyrolean Traverses

A Tyrolean traverse is one method of crossing through free space between two high points on a rope.  In rock climbing a Tyrolean traverse is most often used to return to the main part of a wall after climbing a detached pillar.  Mountain Skills Climbing Guides can incorporate these scenarios into group rock climbing activities.

what is Rappelling

Rappelling is the controlled decent down a rope, climbers use this technique when a clifff or slope is to steep to decend without protection.  Rappelling is also a ton of fun and a great skill to learn.  Rappelling can be taught as a single skill or it can also be incorporated into any day with Mountain Skills Climbing Guides.
